Story of a Senior Dog: The Shelter Days!
Rusty an old dog, lived in a large city full of great buildings. The buildings were built so high into the sky that they scraped against other clouds. Rusty was a grey-coated, wise-eyed old dog.
Rusty had spent most of his life with love and company. He was his owner’s good friend and companion, bringing happiness to their lives. Rusty was there for them in times of sadness.
However, as time went by, and Rusty got older his owner could no longer cater to him. Rusty was reluctantly given up to a noisy shelter. There, he pined for the family that would take him home.
Weeks turned into days, and he watched with sad eyes as the other dogs were taken out one by one to their new homes. But still no one came for rusty. Would he ever meet someone who saw beyond his age into the heart of a crushable boy just wanting to be happy?
Story of a Senior Dog: Rusty’s New Family!
Until one day, a girl named Lily came to the shelter with her mom and dad. Lily, had always wanted a dog and she never stopped asking her parents until they finally agreed to let her get one from the shelter.
Lily walked up and down the cattery. All those sad eyes staring back at her through cages as she went until she found Rusty in his pen. The hope and longing he regarded her with tugged at Lily’s heart.
Lilly reached out with her hand towards Rusty, slowly to approach him. His tail was wagging a tiny bit as he tentatively sniffed her hand. At that moment, Lily understood Rusty was the one she had been looking for.
Lily was able to convince her parents. And thus, she adopted Rusty into their family. Rusty was so happy to have a second chance at life and he promised himself to be the best companion for Lily.
While going home from the shelter, Rusty looking out of window to adventure in front of him. It was about to change his life in ways he had never dreamed of, and neither him nor Lily could wait for the new path that lay ahead.
When Rusty went home with Lily and her family, he nosed around in every crevice and corner, investigated all of the new smells and noises. Rusty was thankful for his new warm bed, all the food he could eat and a family who loved him.
Lily and Rusty just kind of clicked. They walked around the entire neighborhood, playing fetch in their back yard and snuggling on the couch watching movies together. Rusty’s wise eyes glistened with joy.
Story of a Senior Dog: Adventures with Lily!
Laden with old age, Rusty was persuasively energetic. He enjoyed following the squirrels, rolling in grass and welcoming guests with a wag of his tail. Rusty was the favorite of her friends, who doted on him and he loved all that attention and adoration.
Over the days, then weeks Rusty became more and more at ease in his new home. The lonely abandoned boy now felt loved and cherished in this new family.
But Rusty was far from finished. He was going to have plenty of adventures on his way with Lily and her family, he had a lifetime worth moments yet unrealized. But at the close of each day as he snuggled down in his warm bed, Rusty felt where nature intended him to.
Over time, Rusty became a member of Lily’s family. He became the smile in their laughter and they refused to entertain any thought of life without him. Lily and Rusty shared countless adventures together from wandering through the nearby park to savoring fireside snuggles on cold winter nights. No dream however surpassed what Rusty had warmth for Lily and he would lay beside her behind the door when she was paramount in need of comfort.
Rusty’s Lasting Legacy!
Yet, thanks to Lily’s love and care- Rusty still lived comfortably amazing for the age he was! They ensured he had twice yearly vet checks, and plenty of walks and a good diet so that his health was maintained.
Over the years, Rusty ripened and matured at tactical and yet his heart strengthened with each season. Through thick and thin he remained a companion for Lily and her family, enjoying their high times whilst supporting them through the lows.
Lily was graduated from high school, Rusty by her side in support. He wanted nothing more than to spend his frail golden years in the comfort of his family home, where he was surrounded by sights and sounds that had been familiar for most of fourteen long years.
Ultimately Rusty passed away from this earth, but his spirit was alive in all the people that loved him. Rusty would always have a special place in Lily and her family’s hearts, as they thought back on the moments they shared with him. In looking back, they knew that Rusty’s story would live forever, and his legacy was a testament to the resilience of love and the bond between human and dog.
