Hey fellow pet enthusiasts, welcome to a great dog story: how a mischievous puppy learns the true meaning of loyalty through an extraordinary adventure.
Dog Story: The Beginning
Deep within a quaint little town between hills that roll on endlessly meeting with green forests, lived Max -the stray mischievous puppy. Max was as much of a puppy, one with floppy ears and tail wagging to the moon plus endless energy. He loved to wander around and get into trouble, badgering anyone he came across.
Max resided with his human family, the Johnsons. The Johnsons were kind and sympathetic people, always ready to forgive Max for his pranks showering him with love.
On a bright and shiny morning while Max was playing in the backyard, he saw a butterfly flying by. A happy bark of enthusiasm poured out when he jumped up and pursued the butterfly. But just as he was going to catch the butterfly, it fluttered beyond his grasp and flew away into some trees.
Max pressed on, dodging through the undergrowth and running low to the ground. He ran after butterflies and squirrels, even his own tail, just loving the freedom of wide open spaces.
Eventually, however Max became lost and forgot in which direction his home was. He had strayed farther from home than he ever wandered, and now he was alone in the wild, lost with no clue how to get back.
Dog Story: The Crisis
It was at this time that Max began to panic as he truly knew just how badly lost he was. He cried, yelling for his family but got no answer. And, that night when the sun went down and all was dark in the forest, a world of eerie shadows filled with strange noises to fill him with full of terror.
Cold and lonely Max lay shivering under a bush, tail between his legs. He just wanted someone to come and rescue him from this place, take him back home where he belonged.
Max had no idea that his adventure was only just started. And the moon grew brighter and higher in the sky, illuminating Max. That night he would learn about loyalty, true friends and love.
Dog Story: Arrival of Buddy
As that night passed by Max lay beneath a bush and trembled in fright. Just when he thought hope was lost for certain behind those stone walls in which nothing moved anymore — a sound echoed through the darkness that sounded like Buddy barking out, it could only come from one creature.
Hope surging in his heart, Max hurried after the sound of barking and threw himself through dense undergrowth into a black forest. Up ahead, around a curve in the trail and there he was near the edge of clearing- Buddy, his steadfast companion wagging its tail.
Relief soared through Max’s heart and he bolted towards Buddy, tail wagging just as quickly. He also knew that, with Buddy at his side he had just found the way home.
So Max and Buddy went off into the forest together, following their noses….and hopefully…their hearts. They fought through dangerous terrains, traversed swift rivers but their will to return home never ceased.
They went on like this for an eternity, it seemed until the woodland finally gave way and they were only left to break free from what boundary of town line there was finally, Home—the Johnsons’ house, the crowd in the streets, streetlights that shone. Max’s heart skipped a beat as he remembered all these sights and sounds of home.
The Happy Reunion:
Re-energized, Max suddenly took off down the street with Buddy bounding next to him as they literally ran towards home. Finally, they pulled up in front of the Johnsons’ house—so warm and welcoming-looking with that soft porch light on in all this darkness.
His heart swelled with happiness as he bounded up the steps and scratched at the door, desperate to get back inside his home. Max felt as though he was finally home, when the door swung open and Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were bursting with bright smiles at seeing him again.
Tears of joy streamed from the Johnsons’ eyes when they hoisted Max and Buddy into their own arms. Their hearts were full of love and gratitude. They had been so terribly frightened for Max, but here he was, back home. As Max and Buddy laid by the fireplace in their usual spot with pride, Max knew that on his astonishing journey, despite where luck had taken him, with a little help from his Buddy, so long as they love unconditionally nothing would have stopped him. He was always going to make it back home.
